Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Norway held its annual peace symposium on 14 April 2026 at the Baitun Nasr Mosque in Oslo. The event brought together distinguished guests, academics, humanitarian leaders, diplomats and members of various faiths and backgrounds to discuss the urgent need for peace and justice in today’s increasingly fragile world.

The formal proceedings began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Among the distinguished guest speakers at the event were Dina Hovland, Chair of the Board, Médecins Sans Frontières Norway; Gentian Zyberi, Professor of International Law and Human Rights and Director of the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights; Ragnhild Bergheim, Member of the Norwegian Parliament; Attia Mirza, Member of Oslo City Council; Morten Sandanger, Member of the Norwegian Parliament; and Abdullah Uwe Wagishauser Sahib, Amir Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Germany.

In his opening address, Amir Jamaat Norway, Zahoor Ahmad Chaudhary Sahib, welcomed the guests, highlighting the Jamaat’s global commitment to promoting peace, justice, interfaith dialogue and humanitarian service.

After the speeches by Dina Hovland and Gentian Zyberi, Abdullah Uwe Wagishauser Sahib delivered a speech, reflecting on the growing global risk of conflict and nuclear escalation. He stressed that lasting peace requires more than systems and institutions, but moral responsibility and human integrity. He highlighted the concept of peace in Islam.

The speeches collectively highlighted the urgent need for peaceful coexistence, respect for human rights and international cooperation in an increasingly uncertain world.

After the speeches, guests were served dinner, followed by a guided tour of the Baitun Nasr Mosque.
