عَن حُمَيْد بْن عَبْدِ الرَّحْمٰنِ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، خَطِيبًا يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَقُولُ “مَنْ يُرِدِ اللّٰهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقّهْهُ فِي الدّينِ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا قَاسِمٌ وَاللّٰهُ يُعْطِي، وَلَنْ تَزَالَ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةُ قَائِمَةً عَلَى أَمْرِ اللّٰهِ لاَ يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللّٰهِ”.
Humayd bin Abd ar-Rahman narrated, “I heard Mu‘awiah[ra], while he was delivering a sermon, say, ‘I once heard the Prophetsa proclaim, ‘Whomsoever Allah intends good for, He bestows on them the right understanding of religion. I am merely a distributor and it is Allah Who truly bestows. [As long as] this ummah will steadfastly adhere to Allah’s commandments, they will not be harmed by those who oppose them until the decree of Allah is realised.’’”
