This year, the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in Argentina was a special moment where all the local members witnessed the blessings of Allah the Almighty in support of His Community.
Despite being a very small and young community, which was established just a few years ago, the Council of La Plata made special arrangements regarding our Eid celebrations.
A “Happy Eid” banner was placed on the council hall and the mayor of the city of La Plata, which is the capital of the province of Buenos Aires, personally welcomed the delegation of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Argentina. Furthermore, the representatives of the council and the members of the interfaith commission of the city organised an interfaith event, whose purpose was to accompany the Muslims on their special day and to express the tolerance and respect towards Muslims in their city.
Thereafter, we were invited to the prestigious palace of the council to offer the Eid prayer which was a very historical moment as it was the very first time that a Muslim group was allowed to pray in the palace hall of the city.
As a gesture of appreciation from our side, the mayor of La Plata was presented a special copy of the Holy Quran, whereas different Eid souvenirs and gifts were presented to the members of the interfaith committee and the representatives of the council.
