On 28 February 2026, Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya hosted a Community Iftar, bringing together people of different faiths, backgrounds and civic institutions. More than 150 guests attended the event.

Among the distinguished attendees were the Lord Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Liz Smaje; the Leader of Kirklees Council, Cllr Carole Pattinson; local MP Harpreet Uppal; the Bishop of Huddersfield, Rev Smitha Prasadam; Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Munir Ahmad; Interfaith Chairman Kiran Bali; Inspector Alex Langley; along with fellow councillors, faith leaders and representatives of the police and community organisations.

The local missionary, Sabahat Karim Sahib, delivered a speech and provided an insightful presentation on the significance of Ramadan and the true purpose of fasting in Islam. Speakers throughout the evening highlighted the importance of dialogue, respect and cooperation between communities. Many acknowledged the continued efforts of the Jamaat in promoting peace, loyalty to one’s nation and service to humanity.

My humble self, alongside Yousaf Aftab Sahib, thanked guests for their presence and ongoing support. The evening concluded with guests sharing a meal together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Conversations continued long after the fast was broken, strengthening friendships and building bridges across communities.
