Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Malta held an Interfaith Fasting Event on 27 February 2026, in collaboration with a local Roman Catholic Church of Bahar ic-Cagħaq village. The event was held in the parvis of the church and was very well attended, with participants warmly embracing the interfaith spirit and expressing appreciation for this meaningful manifestation of unity and peace. Children from diverse religious and faith communities delivered inspiring messages, sharing reflections and messages centred on fasting, respect and love for others.
The programme continued with addresses by Rev Dr Joseph Ellul OP, Chairperson of the Archdiocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue; my humble self and Rev Mark Ciantar OFM, Rector of Bahar ic-Cagħaq Church. The event concluded with an address by Her Excellency, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President Emeritus of Malta.
After the speeches, guests were served dates and milk for the breaking of the fast, followed by dinner.
Seven religions or religious organisations were represented at the event. In total, around 120 people from various religions attended the Interfaith Fasting Event, including a significant number of Muslims.
During the meal, members of the Jamaat engaged in conversations with the guests, which created opportunities for further introductions and outreach. Guests were also presented with two Maltese-language issues of Jamaat’s tabligh magazine Id-Dawl, which were published in connection with the blessed month of Ramadan.
Many expressed heartfelt thanks to the Jamaat for its hospitality and for organising the event. Malta’s national television provided special coverage of the event and presented a detailed report in its nightly news bulletin, which is watched in almost every household in the country.
