The 22nd Jalsa Salana of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on 28 June 2026 at Hotel Hollywood, Sarajevo. It was attended by 476 participants, including members and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as visitors from Serbia, Germany, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, the UK and Italy.
The opening session was presided over by Wasim Ahmad Sarouah Sahib, In-charge of the Bosnian Desk, and began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Dino Šabović Sahib, Secretary External Affairs of Jamaat Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Two more speeches were delivered afterwards, one by my humble self on “The Role of Islam in Building the Individual and Society” and another by Nadeem Haji Bolić Sahib on “Ahmadiyyat: Revival Through Deeds”.
A renowned academic, Professor Munib Efendić, also spoke on “The Root Causes of Unrest in the Middle East.” He highlighted the Jamaat’s services in promoting peace, interfaith harmony and humanitarian work. During the session, Mr Halil Arnaut, Director of Dom Porodica, a state-run orphanage in Zenica, expressed gratitude for the Jamaat’s continued support for children under the institution’s care. A panel discussion was subsequently held on the topic “The Use of Social Media: Benefits, Challenges and Our Responsibilities.” The panel included Ms Sanja Pješa, Mr Dragan Govzdenović and Professor Faruk Durmić.
Following the Zuhr and Asr prayers, the concluding session began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Among the distinguished guests addressing the session was Mr Mujo Sofradžija, Mayor of Ustikolina, who praised the Jamaat’s efforts in promoting peace, social harmony and community welfare. Mr Asmar Halilović, Director of Drin, also expressed appreciation for the Jamaat’s cooperation in supporting vulnerable members of society. A significant feature of this year’s Jalsa was the introduction of the Ahmedija Priznanje (Ahmadiyya Award). This award has been established to recognise individuals or organisations that have rendered exceptional humanitarian and social services during the year. A short documentary was shown highlighting the Islamic teachings regarding service to humanity and the humanitarian efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. The first award was presented to Ms Indira Hajder in recognition of her outstanding humanitarian services. She received a commemorative shield along with a cash prize of 500 Bosnian Marks. Expressing her gratitude, Ms Hajder thanked the Jamaat for recognising her efforts and appreciated the support she had received from the Jamaat in various humanitarian projects.
The concluding address was delivered by Professor Kadrija Hodžić, Member of Parliament and a prominent Bosnian academic. He summarised the key messages of the day’s speeches and praised the relevance of the topics discussed. He congratulated the Jamaat on organising a meaningful convention that promotes peace, understanding and mutual respect.
In his concluding remarks, Wasim Ahmad Sarouah Sahib thanked all speakers, guests, volunteers and participants for their contributions to the success of the Jalsa. He emphasised that the true purpose of Jalsa Salana is to strengthen one’s bond with Allah, increase religious knowledge and develop a spirit of service to humanity. The proceedings concluded with silent prayer, followed by a communal meal.
