Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Scotland hosted its annual peace symposium at the Edinburgh Academy on 28 March 2026.
The event commenced with a reception where guests were served refreshments, allowing for early networking. In the exhibition area, attendees showed great interest in a display of literature, banners and translations of the Holy Quran in various languages. This space became a hub of engagement as guests participated in deep discussions with Regional Amir, Dr Abdul Hayee Sahib and the missionaries.
The formal session opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran at 4:30 pm, followed by a welcome speech by the Regional Amir Sahib. A total of 200 attendees were present, including 115 guests from non-Muslim backgrounds or of no faith. Throughout the evening, distinguished speakers shared their perspectives on the urgent need for absolute justice. The speakers included the Honourable Arthur Scott, MP Edinburgh SW; the Honourable Susan Catherine Murray, MP Mid Dunbartonshire; Rev Gareth Jones, from Interfaith Scotland; and Fareed Ahmad Sahib, National Secretary External Affairs, Jamaat UK.
The dialogue was further enriched by a video message from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Councillor Robert Aldridge, alongside recorded messages from Chief Constable Jo Farrell of Police Scotland and Graeme Downie MP. Following an engaging question-and-answer session, many guests provided video interviews. A vote of thanks was given by Rev Norman Grant, Minister of Limekilns Parish Church. The evening reached a poignant conclusion with a silent prayer.
