Lajna Imaillah Queensland, Australia, held a Peace Symposium on 12 July 2025 at the Bait-ul-Masroor Mosque in Stockleigh, Queensland. Women from diverse backgrounds and faiths came together to discuss the role of women in empowering peace, starting from the home and within communities. The gathering drew participants from multiple traditions and sectors, all united by a shared vision: advancing the role of women as catalysts for both domestic harmony and community transformation.
The symposium featured testimonies and strategic talks emphasising the profound impact women can have in cultivating peace – starting within their families and radiating outward to wider society. The speakers underscored how, across various cultures and faiths, women play pivotal roles as educators, mediators and bridge-builders in times of division and uncertainty. The speakers from Christian, Sikh and Buddhist faiths spoke on the topic, followed by a powerful talk by Khawla Hadi Sahiba, representative of Lajna Imaillah Queensland.
The event also included a Quran exhibition, library tours, hijab stalls, calligraphy stalls and bookstalls. Feedback from attendees highlighted the success of an “inspiring,” “motivational,” and “educational” event that was “well-organised” and “welcoming.”
