Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Ireland once again came together on 7 June 2026 for their annual 5K charity walk, held along the scenic Salthill Promenade in Galway.
This year, all funds raised are going towards two well-known Irish charities: the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) and Barnardos Ireland, both of which provide essential and much-needed support to individuals and families facing hardship.
In the lead-up to the charity walk, members volunteered their time to set up fundraising stalls across the country in major streets and shopping centres, while also reaching out to friends and family to engage the wider public. Volunteers of all ages – from young children to working professionals – played their part with generosity and commitment.
Members of Lajna Imaillah Ireland also made a significant contribution, supporting the event through fundraising efforts, as well as organising a food stall with all proceeds going directly to the chosen charities.
Participants began arriving early along the coast and the registration commenced at 10:30 am, with participants receiving their numbers and generously donating towards this year’s chosen charities. The formal proceedings of the 5K charity walk began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a brief introduction of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya. Representatives of both charities then addressed participants, expressing their appreciation for the efforts made. The representative of SVP highlighted the scale of need in Ireland. The Deputy Mayor of Galway City, Cllr Alan Cheevers, also spoke at the event and praised the MKA’s continued efforts. Furthermore, just before leading participants in silent prayer, the missionary, Ibrahim Noonan Sahib, commended the work of the Majlis and reminded attendees of the importance of continued community engagement, strengthening social bonds and promoting a message of compassion.
There were 100 attendees at the walk, including participants, volunteers and guests. This year’s walk has raised just over €8,000 so far, with hopes of reaching a target of €10,000 in the coming months, as preparations continue for upcoming charity initiatives, including a cycle and hike. Supporters can contribute to MKA Ireland’s fundraising efforts via the official donation page: www.idonate.ie/event/AMYA5K26.
