Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
“Observe fast on sighting it [the new moon] and break [the fast] on sighting it [the new moon], but if the sky is cloudy for you, then complete the number [of thirty fasts].”
