Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya, São Paulo, Brazil, held a peace symposium on 6 April 2026 in the City Council Hall of Guarujá. Many distinguished personalities from the city attended the symposium.
The President and Vice President of the City Council participated personally. Other guests included the Secretary of Sports, representatives of the Secretary of Culture, representatives of the Secretary of Defence and Human Rights, the Chief Commander of the city police and his deputy, the Vice President of the city’s Interfaith Forum and four religious leaders.
The religious leaders and a number of distinguished guests were invited to address the audience. In their remarks, they appreciated the efforts of the Jamaat in promoting peace. The President of a local labour union expressed that he had previously listened to an interview of one of our leaders on the radio, which inspired him to participate in the event. He also remarked that he would inform those around him that true Muslims are those who present the peaceful and loving teachings of Islam to humanity.
My humble self delivered the concluding speech and highlighted the importance of justice as a prerequisite for establishing lasting peace. I presented teachings and examples from the Holy Quran and the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa). The symposium concluded with a silent prayer.
An exhibition of the Holy Quran was arranged at the entrance of the venue. Large banners displaying the teachings of Islam and an introduction to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat were also exhibited, attracting considerable attention from the participants throughout the event.
A number of Afghan Ahmadi refugees, who had arrived in Brazil only a few days earlier, were also able to attend the symposium. They expressed great joy at being present. This was their first experience of participating in a tabligh event of this nature.
Representatives from two television channels attended the event and subsequently prepared and broadcast reports on their respective channels. In addition, one of the city’s major newspapers published a report on the symposium. Furthermore, an online news platform with approximately 400,000 followers covered the event and published a report through its media channels.
