Al Hakam Weekly9th October 2026
This Week in History: 9-15 October

9 October 1883: On this day, the Promised Messiah (as) replied to a letter from Mir Abbas Ali Sahib of Ludhiana. In it, Hazrat Ahmad (as) shared that he saw a dream the night before, in which some persons, whom he did not recognise, were inscribing some verses over the door of Masjid Mubarak with green ink. Huzoor (as) soon realised that they were angels, who were carrying green ink with them and were writing some verses in calligraphy. Huzoor (as) started reading the verses, but only one of them remained in his memory, which was:

لَا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِه

(Tadhkirah [English], pp. 138-139)

9 October 1980: On this day, the foundation stone of the first mosque in Spain was laid by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III (rh), who also delivered a short speech. The ceremony was extensively covered by the media, including TV, radio and newspapers. (Silsila-e-Ahmadiyya, Vol. 3, p. 638)

9 October 1987: On this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) laid the foundation of the new headquarters and the Baitur Rehman Mosque near Washington. (Silsila Ahmadiyya, Vol. 4, p. 843)

10 October 1927: On this day, Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq (ra) headed towards present-day Sri Lanka to spread the message of the Jamaat there. His tour continued until 6 November. (Al Fazl, 21 October 1927, p. 2)

10 October 1940: One of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (sa) states to teach one’s children swimming, archery and horse riding. Following the above-mentioned hadith, a swimming pool was built in Qadian and was inaugurated on this day by Hazrat Mirza Sharif Ahmad (ra). In his inaugural address, he commended the efforts of Talim-ul-Islam High School’s students in its construction. With the efforts of Hazrat Mirza Sharif Ahmad (ra), this swimming pool was completed. (Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 8, p. 204)

11 October 2016: On this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) inaugurated the Baitul Afiyat Mosque in Scarborough, Canada. A special distinction of this mosque was that Lajna Imaillah Canada funded the vast majority of the cost. 11 October 1983: On the final stage of the Far East tour, during his stay in Sri Lanka, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) visited the Buddhist centre in Kandy on this day. (Silsila Ahmadiyya, Vol. 4, p. 827)

12 October 1956: On this day, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) delivered a profound sermon shedding light on the delicate topic of apostasy.

The noble companions enjoyed this informative sitting full of knowledge and wisdom, held before the Asr prayer. (Malfuzat [1988], Vol. 4, pp. 484-486)

13 October 1946: With the aim of spreading the message of Islam across Europe following WW II, three Ahmadi Muslim missionaries arrived in Switzerland on this day: Chaudry Abdul Latif Sahib, Sheikh Nasir Ahmad Sahib and Maulvi Ghulam Ahmad Bashir Sahib.
