عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضى الله عنه عَنِ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم قَالَ
إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ فِيمَا مَضَى قَبْلَكُمْ مِنَ الأُمَمِ مُحَدَّثُونَ، وَإِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ فِي أُمَّتِي هَذِهِ مِنْهُمْ، فَإِنَّهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ
Abu Hurairahra narrated, “The Prophetsa said, ‘Amongst the ummas preceding you there were muhaddathun [i.e., recipients of Divine speech]. And if there are any of them amongst this umma of mine, it is certainly ‘Umarra ibn al-Khattab.’”
