The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Georgia (AMAG) held its first National Peace Symposium on Sunday, 25 November 2018 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The event’s theme was How Does Religion Promote Peace? The event started at 6pm and finished at 9:30pm, with 5 speakers addressing the gathering.

The event was attended by 153 non-Ahmadi guests, 16 Ahmadi guests and 8 local Jamaat Georgia members, bringing the total attendance to 177 participants.

The National Peace Symposium was held to spread the true message of Islam and to bring together people from different faiths and backgrounds to promote peace, love and harmony. This was the first major event held by AMAG in Georgia.

The event was held in the centre of Tbilisi, at Freedom Square, in the Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Guests from 6 different countries (excluding those living in Georgia) and various backgrounds attended.

Speakers from different faiths were invited to talk on the topic of peace. The following people spoke at the event:

  • Bishop Rusudan Gotsiridze from the Christian faith
  • Rabbi Aviemelekh Rosenblatt from the Jewish faith
  • Darpan Prasher from the Hindu faith
  • Ambassador Jean-Marie Ehouzou, the Permanent Representative of the African Union to the United Nations Office at Geneva
  • Amir Jamaat Germany, Abdullah Wagishauser Sahib, represented the Islamic faith

The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a brief introduction of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat and the Peace Symposium. Bishop Rusudan spoke first, followed by Rabi Aviemelekh, Mr Darpan, Ambassador Ehouzou and the keynote speech was delivered by Amir Sahib Germany. A video on Hazrat Khalifatul Masih’saa efforts for peace was also shown. All the speakers were presented with gifts. The event concluded with dinner.

The event was organised by AMAG, with strong support from Jamaat Germany who brought a team of 10 people that assisted during the event. Ahmadis from Oman, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia and Croatia also attended and assisted during the event.

Alhamdolillah, the feedback from the guests was very positive; they said that they enjoyed the event and many remarked that it was the first time they had attended such an event.

AMAG is grateful for the people who assisted in making the event a success, and foremost for Hazrat Amirul Momineen’saa prayers and guidance.
