Hurricane Ida made landfall in the state of Louisiana with maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour.

As the storm moved inland, it brought tornadoes and heavy flooding in cities such as Philadelphia and New York in the Northeast of the US.

As of now, a total of 96 confirmed deaths have taken place in the USA due to Hurricane Ida and caused over $50 billion in damages.

With many families experiencing heavy damages and in need of assistance, volunteers of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya USA and Humanity First USA were able to assist them in this crisis.

Immediately after the Hurricane subsided, a team of 15 volunteers visited New Orleans, Louisiana and provided aid to affected families.

Even though there was no electricity for multiple weeks after the hurricane, the volunteers sacrificed their personal comforts to serve the needy.

The volunteers distributed water and food items, helped elderly and destitute homeowners with cleaning up their homes through activities such as cleaning up collapsed ceilings, roof repairs, mould remediation, etc.

Alhamdulillah, over the course of three weeks 39 volunteers have assisted 101 families in Louisiana and Pennsylvania, worked 287 hours and distributed over 1,200 food and drink items.

Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya USA and Humanity First USA are continuing to recruit more volunteers and sustain our relief efforts for weeks to come.
