New Ahmadi mosque in Port Loko, Sierra Leone

On 5 December 2021, Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Sierra Leone inaugurated a new mosque in the Port Loko region.

The foundation of the mosque was laid By Safeer Ahmad Sahib, regional missionary of Port Loko, on 26 November 2018 – Safeer Sahib also supervised the construction work of the mosque.

Approximately 350 people can offer prayer inside the new mosque. 

The opening ceremony started at 11 am with the recitation from the Holy Quran with Temne translation. The programme was chaired by Saeed ur Rahman Sahib, Amir and Missionary-in-charge Sierra Leone.

Nooruddin Sesay Sahib presented the introduction of the guests. This was followed by an address by Amir Sahib Jamaat Sierra Leone.

After the address, Amir Sahib cut the ribbon and formally opened the mosque and led everyone in silent prayer.

After the Zuhr prayer, the guests were served lunch.

This programme was attended by approximately 450 people including a regent Chief of Bekeloko Chiefdom, Mr F S Kanu, Strategic Advisor for Social Mobilisation and Food Security of Covid-19 Response and former Minister Hon Dr Alhaji Alpha Sahid Kanu, Member of Parliament Hon, Abdul Karim Kamara, Paramount Chief of Buya Romende Chiefdom, Mr Alhaji Gibril, Assistant District Officer, Mr Abdulai Koroma, Officer National Security, Mr Ali Momoh, Chief Imam Port Loko City Central Mosque, Mr Hassan Sankoh, 10 non-Ahmadi Muslim Imams and representatives of many jamaats of the region.
