In the fourth year of Al Hakam, we will present a selection of incidents from the blessed era of the Third Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmadrh (1965-1982)

16 April 1970: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh addressed a press conference in Lagos, Nigeria. Huzoorrh explained the unparalleled and everlasting teachings of Islam.

16 April 1971: The first health centre in The Gambia was established in Banjul, formerly known as Bathurst, under the Nusrat Jehan Scheme.

16 April 1978: Sri Lanka’s Jalsa Salana was held, which lasted for two days.

17 April 1970: While in Nigeria, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh delivered a Friday Sermon in the Muslim Teachers Training College, which was attended by around 5,000 people, 300-400 of whom were non-Ahmadi guests. At the outer gate of the hall, a banner with the words “Allahu Akbar, Khalifatul Masih is among us today, alhamdulillah” was put up. After the Friday Sermon, Huzoorrh met with students and professors.

On the same day, the Pakistani High Commissioner in Nigeria, SM Qureshi Sahib arranged a farewell dinner for Huzoorrh in his home, which Huzoorrh attended with members of his entourage. In this dinner, ambassadors from Sudan, Indonesia, Niger and Sierra Leone were in attendance. 

17 April 1972: On this date, China’s ambassador, Chang Tang visited Rabwah and met with Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh. The ambassador arrived around noon, visited offices and educational institutions. He also saw the newly built Masjid Aqsa and returned the next day.

17 April 1981: Jamaat The Gambia held its seventh Jalsa Salana. Also on this date, Nigeria held its ninth annual ijtema of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya. 

18 April 1968: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq met with a delegation of the Jamaat.

18 April 1969: On this date, a simple ceremony to commemorate 10 years since the establishment of the Jamaat’s mission and mosque in Frankfurt was held in Germany. Hazrat Chaudhry Sir Zafrulla Khanra presided over the function. Numerous events and meetings took place on this occasion.

18 April 1970: During his tour of Ghana, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh reached Accra on this date. This tour lasted 26 days. Approximately 10,000 African Ahmadis welcomed Huzoorrh and raised slogans on his arrival. In the evening, before laying the foundation of a mosque, Huzoorrh addressed and explained the importance of mosques in Islamic society and their role.

18 April 1975: On this date, the 22nd tarbiyati class of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Pakistan commenced, which continued until 2 May. 

18 April 1976: On this date, an annual ijtema of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Pakistan was held at Masjid Aqsa. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh addressed the gathering. 

18 April 1981: Maulana Ghulam Ahmad Farukh Sahib, who served the Jamaat as a missionary, passed away. He was born in 1917 in a village near Qadian. His father’s name was Hazrat Mian Ghulam Qadirra. He received his religious education from Madrasa-e-Ahmadiyya Qadian and then, in 1937, he went on to serve Islam Ahmadiyyat. He served the Jamaat for 44 years. He served in the areas of Sialkot, Karachi, Quetta, Sukkur, Hyderabad and other places of Sindh. From 1972 to 1976, he served in Fiji and spread the message of the Promised Messiahas. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa mentioned some incidents of his life during his Friday Sermon of 22 October 2010. 

19 April 1970: In Accra, on this date, Huzoorrh met with Ahmadis individually and attended a reception in the evening, which was also attended by foreign ambassadors, state ministers, representatives of the church, correspondents of radio and news agencies and other dignitaries of the city. On this occasion, Huzoorrh conversed and interacted with all of them. 

In the evening, a radio correspondent interviewed Huzoorrh, which was broadcast later. Huzoorrh stated that Ahmadiyyat’s fundamentals are in fact Islam’s fundamentals. He said Islam desires that a person should have a direct relation with his Creator. 

On 19 April, some members of the Ashanti Jamaat, along with their president, Alhaj Al Hassan Ata Sahib, met with Huzoorrh. Then, Mr BK Adam, Minister of State also met with Huzoorrh.

19 April 1975: Hazrat Hakim Syed Pir Ahmadra passed away.

19 April 1980: Majlis Ansarullah India held its second annual ijtema.

20 April 1967: On this date, Hazrat Baba Ghulam Muhammadra, who was among the Darweshan-e-Qadian (313 Ahmadis who chose to remain behind after the partition of India to protect Qadian), passed away. He was born in 1880 and pledged allegiance in 1902.

20 April 1970: Lieutenant General Akwasi Amankwaa Afrifa of Ghana met with Huzoorrh and showed great respect. Huzoorrh later went to Kumasi, which is the second largest city of Ghana. 15 miles outside of Kumasi, Ahmadis gathered to welcome Huzoorrh. As the delegation approached the city, the number of members who came to welcome Huzoorrh began to increase.

20 April 1973: On this date, a mosque was inaugurated in the Balahun village of Sierra Leone. Balahun is situated on a small hill at a distance of 17 miles from Kailahun. The majority of the population of this village had become Ahmadi. The mosque of this village was inaugurated by Maulvi Bashir Ahmad Shams Sahib on 20 April 1973. After the inauguration, Maulvi Bashir Ahmad Shams Sahib delivered a sermon in which he outlined the purpose of the advent of the Promised Messiahas and the growth of Ahmadiyyat despite opposition.

21 April 1970: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh inaugurated a two-storey building of the mission house in Kumasi. On this occasion, Hazrat Syeda Mansoora Begum Sahiba saw a vision at the time of dua, of the Promised Messiahas emerging from the clouds.

On the same day, Huzoorrh addressed the students and teachers of the Talim-ul-Islam Secondary School Kumasi in English for around 25 minutes. He stated that true knowledge can only be attained from the true teacher, meaning Allah the Almighty. Huzoorrh stated that hard work and prayer jointly produce good results and advised them to attain knowledge so they can serve the country and nation.

21 April 1973: Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Nigeria held its 24th annual two-day Majlis-e-Shura.

22 April 1966: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh announced the launch of the third register of Tahrik-e-Jadid. He stated that this register should be considered to have been issued from 1 November 1965 so that it be attributed to the time of Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra.

22 April 1970: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh visited Techiman, Ghana. He inaugurated a mosque and laid the foundation stone of the Lajna Hall and met with 3,000 men. The same evening, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh met Ahmadis from Wa who had travelled hundreds of miles. Huzoorrh addressed them in Arabic.
