A glimpse into the rich history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat

30 August 1927: On this day, a session of the Unity Conference of Hindu and Muslim leaders was held at the Council Chamber in Shimla (the Summer Capital of British India), where Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra delivered a speech, wherein he shed light on the methods for achieving peace between all communities and advocated the protection of the economic rights of the Muslims.

For more details, see “Communal harmony, Unity Conference and Muslim rights: Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud’s 1927 visit to Shimla”, at alhakam.org (24 February 2023, pp. 13-16).

30 August 1935: The Ahrar were spreading false notions against Ahmadiyyat and attributing certain beliefs to the Jamaat. When this act of theirs went out of bounds, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra challenged the Ahrar for a mubahala (prayer duel), for the sake of Islam and its Holy Foundersa during his Friday Sermon on this day. (Khutbat-e-Mahmud, Vol. 16, p. 532)

30 August 1970: On this day, addressing Ahmadi doctors, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh narrated the details of the Nusrat Jehan (Leap Forward) scheme, and encouraged them to offer their services in Africa under this scheme. On this very day, before this ceremony, an important meeting of Ahmadi doctors took place in which the ‘World Ahmadiyya Medical Association’ was established. The details of a harrowing first-hand account of the violence and terror that afflicted the town of Qadian and its surrounding areas following the partition of the subcontinent can be read in the daily diary of Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmadra. Kept between March 1947 and February 1948, the diary meticulously records the terrible sectarian violence.

On this occasion, the Government of Pakistan unjustly took possession of buildings worth millions of rupees belonging to the Jamaat. (Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 28, pp. 114-119)
