“Just as a foolish person abandons Allah the Exalted and bows down to a stone, similarly, they abandon truth and integrity, turning falsehood into an idol for their personal benefit. This is why Allah the Exalted has associated falsehood with idolatry and equated the two. Just as an idolater seeks salvation from an idol, in the same way, the liar creates their own idol of falsehood and believes they will be saved through it. What a terrible calamity has befallen them! If they are told, ‘Why do you indulge in this idolatry? Abandon this impurity,’ they respond, ‘How can we abandon it? We cannot survive without it.’ What could be more unfortunate than the fact that they rely on falsehood as their support?”
