Prayer for guidance

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ قَالَ لِیْ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

‏ قُلِ اللّٰهُمَّ اهْدِنِیْ وَسَدِّدْنِیْ وَاذْكُرْ بِالْهُدىٰ هِدَايَتَكَ الطَّرِيْقَ وَالسَّدَادِ سَدَادَ السَّهْمِ

Hazrat Ali^ra narrates that the Holy Prophet^sa said to him:

“Say, ‘O Allah, guide me and make me upright’ and remember that ‘guidance’ means being guided on the straight path and ‘uprightness’ means being upright and straight as an arrow.”
